District operates five
facilities within the
boundaries of
Momence, IL. Each
facility serves a
unique purpose and
provides the
residents of
Momence, Illinois and
surrounding
communities with
opportunities to play,
learn and relax!
The flagship facility of
the Momence Park
District is Island Park.
Island Park offers a
one-of-a-kind location
featuring acres of
wooded beauty
nestled between two
channels of the
Kankakee River.
Island Park offers
room to roam, picnic,
fish and enjoy the
sights and sounds of
the Kankakee River.
Additional Parks
include historic
Walnut Street Park,
Island View Park, Jed
& Emma Park and
Boat Launch Park.

| BOAT LAUNCH PARK This facility offers residents of Momence and nearby communities boating access to the beautiful Kankakee River LOCATION: End of Fourth Street |
| ISLAND VIEW PARK This neighborhood park offers a playground, public basketball court, picnicking and an enhanced view of the North Channel of the Kankakee River LOCATION: Corner of Wilbur and Chatfield Street |
| WALNUT STREET PARK The centerpiece of this historic public park is the metal Walnut Street Wagon. The park offers a large playground facility and covered picnic pavilion. A very popular park, Walnut Street is the perfect site for outdoor parties and family events. LOCATION - Corner of Walnut Street and Second Street |
| The five facilities maintained by the Momence Park District are all available for group rentals. Groups of 15 or more are required to reserve a rental space and acquire a permit. | MOMENCE PARK DISTRICT OFFICE LOBBY The new and improved Park District Office include information provided from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and a photo display of Park Properties and Events. The Office is open Tuesday through Friday 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM |

In 2007, the Momence Park District underwent a
revitalization of purpose beginning with the
adoption of two plans; a ten year Master Plan
and a one year Master/Project Plan. Changes
began almost immediately!
*The Park District successfully completed a Bond Issue to
access funds for District upgrades and projects.
*The Park District prepared and distributed a brochure
outlining the facilities and events throughout the District.
Residents were given the opportunity to complete and return
a questionnaire used as an aid in developing a Master Plan.
*New Playground equipment and an adult Lawn Swing were
added to the East End of Island Park.
*A new sign and boundary fencing were erected at Island
View Park.
*A shoreline clearing project at Island View Park began,
opening up the south end of the Park and extending the
view across the Kankakee River to Island Park.
*The Park District held its first Open House during 'The
Gathering' event in December.
*With the help of the Momence Progress Reporter, the
Park District implemented a public information campaign
utilizing weekly press releases.
*Final installation of equipment at Jed & Emma Park led to
the late summer dedication of the facility.
*The Field house at Island Park received a colorful exterior
face lift.
*The Tennis Courts on Island Park were resealed to prevent
further damage to the playing surface.
